Biography

Martin Rizov, born in Valandovo, Macedonia, began his musical education at an early age under the guidance of his father, a flutist. At the age of 14, he was admitted to the piano course at the DMUC "Sergej Mihajlov" in Shtip, under the guidance of Professor Slavcho Velichkov. In 2019, he advanced his academic pursuits at the Conservatorio di Musica “G. Tartini” in Trieste, under the tutelage of Professor Teresa Trevisan. In 2022, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree with the highest marks.

Among the key highlights, Martin has performed with the Macedonian Philharmonic in Skopje as part of the “The Youth Are Coming” event, followed by a performance with the DMUC "Sergej Mihajlov" Orchestra in Shtip in 2018. Additionally, he has held numerous concerts both in Macedonia and abroad, in prestigious venues in Italy, Slovenia, and Portugal. Martin’s debut CD, featuring works by Ravel, is set to be released in 2025 under the KNS Classical label.

Martin has distinguished himself in numerous international competitions, receiving notable awards. In 2022, he won the First Absolute Prize at the International “Ugo Amendola” Competition, while in 2023, he achieved the First Absolute Prize at both the International “Città di Cervignano” Competition and the National Musical Competition “Città di Belluno”. Additionally, he was awarded the “Gold Hands with special mention of the jury” at the “Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition”, the Third Prize at the “Ohrid Pearls” International Competition and was honored as a Laureate of the “Tomislav Zografski” Foundation. 

His artistic development has been enriched by attending masterclasses with internationally renowned pianists, including Roberto Cominati, Maria Grazia Bellocchio, Olivier Gardon, Gerlinde Otto, Makoto Ueno, and Daniel Rivera. Martin was supported by the Fondazione Kathleen Foreman Casali and the Williamson Foundation for Music.
